Mezzo-soprano Hannah Poulsom was a recipient of the Amanda von Lob Memorial Prize and the Alica Gamble Award, and was also a Stroma Sutherland and an Elizabeth Wilmore scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied on the prestigious Royal Academy Opera Course. Her operatic performances with RAO include; Carmen (La Tragedie de Carmen - Peter Brook), Minskwoman (Flight - Dove), Frau Peachum (Die Dreigroschenoper - Weill), Junon (Orphée aux Enfers - Offenbach) performed at Hackney Empire, and Bradamante (Alcina - Handel), alongside scenes performances of; Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni - Mozart), Second Angel (Written on Skin - Benjamin), and Sara (Roberto Devereux - Donizetti).

Hannah was introduced to classical music at Frensham Heights School, where she was awarded a scholarship to aid her studies in music. During her time here, she became a member of Farnham Youth Choir, which gave her the platform to perform as a soloist and to sing in prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and The Royal Festival Hall. Hannah regularly competed in the Farnham Festival, winning Folk, Lieder and Recital classes and was awarded the Sheila Armstrong Award for the Most Promising Young Singer of the Year.

Hannah completed her undergraduate degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Gail Pearson. Here, she participated in the European premier of Dean Burry's Brother's Grimm, where she played the Wolf in the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. In her final year, she sang as a student scholar with the BBC National Chorus of Wales enabling her to sing in chamber group performances including a live broadcast of Britten's A.M.D.G. and she recorded Sullivan's The Beauty Stone, in which she sang the role of a Maiden.

In the Autumn of 2017, Hannah created the role of Verily Romily for Surrey Opera’s World Premiere Tour of The Life to Come, based on the E.M. Forster story of the same title, by Louis Mander and with libretto by Stephen Fry. Her recent and future concert repertoire comprises Pergolesi's Stabat Mater as part of the Valetta Baroque Festival held in Teatru Manoel, Mahler's Third Symohony in Hoddinot Hall at the Wales Millennium Centre, and she is very excited to be returning to Garsington Opera this season as an Alvarez Emerging Artist. Hannah debuted with Garsington last season covering Christine Rice in the role of La Marchesa from Donizetti's Un Giorno di Regno, and also performed the role of Attendant in A Trip to the Moon by Andrew Norman.
